About the campaign

Diversity for Life is a campaign to inspire people to use agricultural biodiversity to improve their nutrition, their livelihoods, and the health of the planet. With its headquarters in Rome—in tribute to Italy’s long commitment to the diversity of plants and animals that are so critical to agriculture—the campaign will undertake and support projects and activities all around the world. The key target audiences are policymakers, schools and the media.

Diversity for Life is hosted by Bioversity International, the world’s largest international organization uniquely concerned with the conservation and use of agricultural biodiversity.

The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity has endorsed the Diversity for Life campaign, which it sees as a major contribution towards meeting the goals of the Convention’s programme on Communications, Education and Public Awareness. Diversity for Life is working closely with the Secretariat in the lead up to the UN-declared International Year of Biodiversity in 2010.
